A feast was a occasion to celebrate. Both men and women would sit together around a circle with the chief. The placement of their seating would be determined by rank.
To partake in the feast, the celts would sit on dried grass. Their meals would be served on long wooden tables which were raised slightly above the earth. Their meat intake was large and was normally prepared by boiling or roasting on charcoal or on spits. Loaves of bread were eaten with the meat and washed down with wheaten beer prepared with honey. More wealthy celts would partake in wine imported from Italy or Marseilles. |
